May is CalFresh Awareness Month
CalFresh Awareness Month is an annual campaign aimed at raising public awareness of the CalFresh Program. CalFresh helps stretch low-income residents’ budgets to increase their food-buying power, so they can purchase the food and groceries essential for a healthy nutrition.
How does CalFresh work?
You get money for groceries on an easy-to-use card each month. Use it like a debit card in stores, online and at your local farmers market. At checkout, just swipe your CalFresh card, pick EBT, and enter your PIN.
How to apply?
Apply for CalFresh Food benefits in three easy steps:
Answer some short questions and submit a few documents at CalFreshFood.org, or call 1-877-847-3663 (FOOD).
Have a short phone interview with a CalFresh representative.
If you’re accepted, your CalFresh card will arrive within 30 days.
