SHARE TABLES

Reducing food waste and increasing access to nutritious foods through Share Tables.

About this initiative.

We're working with a youth team on a youth participatory action research (YPAR) project to implement a Share Tables campaign at Roosevelt Middle School.

Share Tables allow students to give away their unopened, prepackaged, and uneaten food and beverage items, so that other students can select those items at no cost during breakfast and lunch. Anything that's left over will be donated to local non-profit partners. The goal is to reduce food waste and increase access to nutritious foods.

This project is designed to put the power in the hands of youth. Students get to participate in fun activities, gain valuable leadership skills, and learn how to use research and advocacy for positive change at their school.
