Rethink Your Drink Celebration!
Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) participated last month in California's Rethink Your Drink campaign. GUSD's CalFresh Healthy Living (CFHL) team, in conjunction with the district's Nutrition Services Department, served fruit-infused water at all our schools.
To celebrate the month-long campaign, all students in the District had the opportunity to taste Strawberry Mint Infused Water and Orange and Cucumber Infused Water during lunch on September 20th and September 27th. All the fresh produce items used for the infused water were locally sourced from the District’s Farm to School Vendors, Old Grove Orange and The Fruit Guys; continuing to support the Farm to School efforts in California. Students loved and expressed their excitement over the infused water tastings. This effort would not have been possible without the help from cafeteria staff and the Nutrition Services leadership team, who continue to focus on student well being.

The CFHL team also joined school sites to reinforce choosing healthier beverages and reducing intake on sugary beverages with the infused water tastings. Additionally, our partners at Adventist Glendale Health Foundation joined us at our Farmers Market event at Roosevelt on September 19th to celebrate with Roosevelt students and the school community.
